Location: VIrginia | Hi,
1.) I am looking for the chrome mounting bracket for the interior rear view mirror - mine is pitted. This bracket only works on the convertibles - see attached photo of the convertible bracket & the 2 door hardtop bracket that will not work.
2.) Also in the need of the two small stainless steel oval shaped convertible top latch hole covers (right & left side) - click on pdf to see location of covers on a 1956 Dodge convertible.
3.) Need the chrome vent window assembly for both doors - mine are very pitted - the two door hardtop assembly will work.

Location: Under the X in Texas | Owning a '56 Dodge convertible, I understand your plight. Your mirror base looks pretty darn great to me! Parts for these cars are interchangeable for these two years '55-56 Dodge and most will interchange with '55-56 Plymouth. Almost nothing interchanges to '55-56 DeSoto and Chrysler. I don't know if the "ovals" interchange - I didn't need to find out!
Check the online parts book about interchange: https://www.scribd.com/document/366062954/55to58-Mopar-Parts-Catalog
You appear to want very high quality work (most would be happy with the mirror base like that) so I'd say you need one of the very top platers in the country. They advertise and they know how to charge $$$. But you have small parts here so not too big a concern.
I personally have been using Ogden Plating in Utah. They can do "show" chrome or a "street" quality at lower cost. Talk to them but I think you'll want "show". Speed and Sport Plating in Houston is another option and quicker. There are many others.
To my own continuing search, do you have or know of a parts car for a '55-56 Dodge or Plymouth convertible (ONLY) trunk hinge? Thanks.

Location: VIrginia | The picture of the bracket looks much better than what it actually looks like.
I had taken the oval stainless off to straighten them up and give a good polish up on the buffer.. To make a long story short, I misplaced
them & fear I might have thrown them out by mistake.
I am in the process of replacing the front windshield gasket so I am cleaning & polishing all of the exterior stainless trim and repainting the black
interior windshield trim covers.
I have a 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer 4 door that I am using as a "Parts Car". I do not know of any '55-56 Dodge or Plymouth convertibles
for the trunk hinge. I did, now that I think of it, find someone selling '55-'56 Dodge convertible parts in Calif on Craigslist but they never replied when I emailed them.
Perhaps you may have better luck
BTY I am in the need of the tiny Philips head screws for the windshield stainless exterior B posts trim and the top of the windshield trim stainless. I had to drill several of them out & the others are in poor shape. I can post some pictures of them later.
Thanks & good luck hunting |

Location: VIrginia | Here is another picture of my pitted rear view mirror bracket. Also have included a picture of the tiny Philips head screws for the stainless windshield trim. The smaller screws are for the right and left side trim and the larger screw is for the top of the windshield stainless

Location: Under the X in Texas | Most hardware stores carry some stainless screws. Lowes, Home Depot, local "good old boy" stores in small towns too. Might be out for the public or "behind the wall" so you have to be helped. Ask. If not avail near you, Gardner-Westcott http://gardner-westcott.com/ Go to "Product Catalog - Automotive" tab has them and you can order by the piece if necessary. There are other suppliers too but these guys have serviced the hobby for decades.
With that pic, I better understand your wanting to rechrome the mirror base.
I think #84 and #85 on the Ogden inventory layout are the ovals from my car?
Thanks for replying re any parts car.

Location: Under the X in Texas | I had mentioned above sending my '56 Dodge parts to Ogdem Chrome in Utah. They photo inventory the parts coming in so nothing gets lost. That is one of their photos to maintain parts identification by mumbers which have a corresponging list. Would that every plater did something similar !!! |

The guy from Craigslist in California got back to me this morning about the Oval Stainless windshield latch covers. His link is listed below. He wanted $165.00 for them. A bit pricy for me.
