| Hi, Looking for a reproduction dash pad for a 1960 Chrysler Saratoga. I contacted http://www.justdashes.com and they do it BUT they are retooling and HAVE NO IDEAS WHEN THEY WILL BE BACK AND WORKING!!
Any other places that can do that?

If that doesn't work, search RD Autoline
I just bought a pad for my '61 Newport--it is perfect. Highly recommended by me!

| I am contacting them, I am just afraid to deal overseas because of time crunch. How long did it take for you to get your dash pad from them? If you don't mind me asking, how much was it so that I can prepare my heart for the sticker shock...lol

Location: Sept. 1958 | When I ordered a dash pad from RD, for 61 Chrysler, last year it was delivered rather quickly once made. But it took a few months to make. The price including the fee for SEK to US dollars and shipping was around $800. Just Dashes quoted $1,000 plus shipping and they had a 6 month or so backlog. |

Location: The Great Northwest | RDAutoline is very good. At the time I ordered the dash pad for the 61, they had a distribution center in Southern California. I had the option of getting the last one in SoCal that was black or I could order one from the factory and have them paint it the correct color green before they shipped it. There would be many months wait time if I wanted them to send me a green one from Europe or I could get the black one in SoCal right now. I chose the black one for quick delivery and then painted it the correct color green myself. Here are some pictures of the pad once it was installed. You have to save the metal strip with locking tabs from your original pad and insert it into the new pad. The pad itself is excellent quality and detail. You have to do some trimming around the gauge opening and it will make you pucker up a little when you start to cut the hole to mount the mirror base but slow and steady worked fine.

| Wow, looks amazing. You are braver than me I would be terrified to take so many parts out. lol I can do many things but this is just terrifying to me to see wire hang out. As for painting, what kind of paint do you use to paint vinyl where it doesn't peel or crack?
I might have an issue with the brackets because I don't have a dash pad right now, well I have a little part of it, lol
I contacted them but with the time difference I don't think they will reply tonight.
Thanks

| I have a little metal strip left above the glove box so i might be good then. Then my question is if they have a black in stock how do i paint it dark blue like the above poster who painted his green? I didn't know i couldnpaint this and it would look that good and not peel or crack |

A good idea is to paint it semi-gloss instead of gloss - less reflections |

Location: NY & VT | You will want to use SEM products to prep and color coat the pad, they have excellent customer service and besides stock colors they can color match any pad or vinyl color with a sample. They did a custom color match for my '68 Chevy's gold interior after I sent them a door handle pad and results were perfect. RDAutoline probably uses SEM or a similar local product. The factory did it this way originally.

Location: The Great Northwest | There is a fairly local professional paint store that can make up just about any color of any type of paint for aerosol can creation. They supplied paint for the kick panels, lower dash, plastic covers between the doors, rear package tray, and the dash pad. In this case, they used Du Pont brand with the formula as part of the label for future mixing to match. They did add a flex agent to the paint for the dash and I used Bulldog adhesive agent before applying the green paint. Even the black pads have been painted at the manufacturing facility so it is just a matter of giving it another coat of a different color. It is more accurate to say two or three light coats of paint to maintain the texture of the pad material.
If you have the metal strip for the glove box area that is the one you need for the new pad. As mentioned the pad does come with the locking tabs on top that go in the slots at the base of the windshield.

Location: NY & VT | You don't want to use regular spray paint even with additives, you want a specialized flexible vinyl coating like SEM and using their prep steps and products is essential for a proper job. Their products are used OEM by auto interior manufacturers and by professional used car detailers.
As Jan mentions, bought my RDAutoline pad through Tony, at that time 3-4 yrs ago he was distributing them, not sure if he still does. I think you might be able to locate him through Copperstate vintage cars (Bo Malefors) in Phoenix?

| Thanks for all the great info. I will spray the dash pad and also the door panels. I talk to someone local that is a distributor for SEM and they can cool match my 2 blue colors in the door panels. I was wondering WHERE can I find the color codes for old cars. I would like to know what color the dash pad was in a blue interior 1960 Saratoga. Is there some sort of color chart somewhere that I can see how this car would have been originally. The dash pad right now is so "crispy" that it looks black or dark blue. I don't think it would have been black with an all blue interior. Is there some sort of color charts for what they would have used back then? |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | You will find some parts with the original color under the garnish somewhere. So this will help you to get a fair match. |
