For the ignition stuff, better off just going electronic. I have had success with the china crap distributors, but I also carried the old points one as a spare (that I never needed)
Otherwise BB mopar theres not going to be much around except maybe speed shops, otherwise the US suppliers that will still sell to Australia

| Mark, I probably have points, Caps etc here, fuel pumps, Carb kits, some front end parts and of course I make all the Lenses etc for the 60.
I love the colour! I have had a few 60 Chryslers over the years myself, even drag raced a 60 NewYorker and 60 300F so I know them well.

Location: Sydney | Tranny and gear selection finally sorted, all adjustment based. Engine sorted is running sweet. Front end completely rebuilt. Brakes are as good as they are going to get. Engine bay and wiring tidied up and renewed.... Lowered a couple inches etc etc....
Ready to just enjoy for a while now before next stage and more money!

Location: North Australia | Slick Automobile Marc. Good to read you are getting it sorted. Maybe you need to have another look at the brakes? They should work good. They are tricky to set up, it took me a while to sort my car's out, but they do work fine now. Steve.

Location: Sydney | The brakes are "OK" but theres way too much pedal.
Even the slightest adjustment to the master cylinder pushrod gets the brakes starting to jam up, and less than half a turn out gets the pedal nearly to the floor.
Bled and adjusted everything and it pulls up ok and straight but theres way too much pedal travel.
Disc front end, twin circuit modern booster is in my future I hope when funds become available and other things are done, like door seals, window channels, bit of a reupholster on the saggy bench seat, shocks etc etc etc .......

Disc front end is a huge cost, or at least it is here. Probably a 4 k investment. get the disc spindles from a junkyard here in the States Then order the rotors, bearings, calipers, ect from Rock Auto. shouldn't be anything near that much. I used '77 NYer on my '60 Plym. |

Not that Ive found, they are all worth more than mine these days!
Im looking at a bolt on kit, something like this when the time comes but not sure of all the option at the moment.

Location: Sydney | A disc conversion Ive found, off the shelf in Victoria from Hoppers Stoppers.
But a master and booster is the trick now.
They are happy to do it but they would need the car for a week and they are 1000 km's away so....
Would anyone know what dual circuit master cylinder and or booster assembly would fit thats available in Oz and what mods that will encompass?
The booster and master cylinder area are very restricted and wondering whats going to fit considering the master sits so low on the firewall.
Even a dual circuit master that works with the existing booster???
Would that work?
Any leads appreciated.
My brakes currently work but they make me nervous, they just about go to the floor but if I adjust the length adjuster under the dash even 1/2 - 3/4 of a turn, they start to lock up.

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Marc, the brake pedal is kind of close to the floor even with everything in good working order. The easiest way of adjusting the push rod is to disconnect the push rod end pin and slowly push the pushrod in until you can feel that it makes contact with the mc-piston.
Now, if you can insert the pushrod end pin without pressing the push rod further in, the push rod is too long. If all is correct, the pedal travel from the resting point to the contact of the mc-piston will be around 3/8" (10mm).
My guess is that the mc has rust damage inside and that brake fluid leaks through internally. I've just changed my mc (with rust issues inside) and recently changed the mc on a '61 NY for the same reason.
The single circuit brakes are not to be considered a problem, BUT, it requires full attention as for the condition f the components, hoses, brake lines etc.
I have all new components now and I'm doing a full check-up every winter.
While you're at it, modify the hydraulic brake switch to a mechanic one - will remove one possible leak source and it will give you possibility to adjust the brake switch for next to direct action - this will earn some very important milliseconds and you can light up your brake lights without braking if some moron is tailgating you.
This will also allow the use of synthetic brake fluid if you should want it (slightly more mushy pedal)

I have adjusted it the same as per your instructions initially and with that, I get no brakes, pedal just goes to the floor.
I have to adjust the pushrod a fair way further to get the pedal to work just short of the floor.
Another 1/2 - 3/4 turn and it starts to lock up after a few uses.
As you suggest, probably rust damage.
I would like to remove the switch as it also leaks too.
Access to the master with the bellows booster is just ridiculous and makes even checking fluid a two man job. (or am I doing it wrong!)
Cant get the screw out without the bellows completely compressed.
Thats is another reason Id would like to update it. |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | Unscrew the screw completely, move the lid towards the engine, drop the screw back down so it doesn't sit on the threaded hole - now lift the screw askew out towards the engine and remove the lid.
Or just do the first step above and move the lid with the screw still in as much as possible - you'll be able to check the fluid level through the semicircle opening.
For filling it up, use a syringe with a clear plastic hose.
