Location: New York, NY
Hi, everyone. I've been visiting this site for a while now but just recently became a member. I wanted to join the forum once I had a Forward Look car of my own, but I could really use some advice in getting one.
I saw a nice '57 Belvedere sedan in the For Sale part of the forum and I really like it, but it is in Texas, while I'm in NY.
Now, I have never bought a car before, and the fact that this car is halfway across the country adds to the number of questions and uncertainties for me, but if it means I can get a running 1957 Plymouth, it will be worth it in the end.
So, I was hoping maybe some of you could either share your experiences or the do's and don't's of buying a car (long distance or short distance). That way I can determine whether to go for it or wait for a car that I can examine in person before buying.
Any help is appreciated.

Get a video of it running! Send an inspector to check it out.
That's what I did, cost me $225 6 years ago. Inspector sent around 100 pictures and a detailed report, plus a video of it running on 7 cylinders and spewing smoke. Home made rocker panels that had poor fit. Loads of body filler. Best money I ever spent to not buy a car.
