Location: Columbus, OH | I'm thinking I might try my hand a carb rebuild here. The original carb is the Carter AFB and I found this kit online:

Anyone had any experience with that kit to know if it's any good?
Anyone rebuilt their carb that can give me some helpful pointers?
I've never rebuilt a carb, but have basic understanding of them and how they function with floats, springs, jets, etc. Is this something I should tackle or find some shop to do it? There's a few youtube videos out there on rebuilds, so I'll probably watch them when attempting it, but thought I'd ask here first. |

Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Why would you think the WCFB was a choice? Afb is a fairly simple carb to go through, make sure the throttle shaft is not worn/ loose.

Location: Columbus, OH | Thanks. I have done a lot more research and received quite a bit of help from others and it seems I do have the WCFB carb, not the AFB one. I plan to replace it with an AFB model going forward rather than rebuild this WCFB which doesn't allow as much air flow. |

I *think* the quick WCFB tell is if all four (2 x primary and 2 x secondary) ports are the same size = WCFB; 2 one size, 2 another size = AFB. (??)

Location: Pau, S-W France | Since i drive the car i tested three carbs, the original WCFB, a '58 AFB and now a new Edelbrock; i assume that performances are the same ! But with the new carb i forget some troublesome problems... |

Location: Northen Virginia | simple....60 years old technology so no much you can ask to it.
Spend the money and buy new Edelbrock, listen to Phil he has been playing with Imperials for decades.
You can use the WCFB as a hat for Halloween, they are only good for trailer queens, besides towing you can form bum F Egypt is going to cost you a lot more than the new carb.
DO NOT PLAY WITH FUEL OR BRAKES, it is my recommendation. |

Location: So. Cal | I have had very bad luck with Edelbrock carbs. I've had 4 of them brand new out of the box that flood out and need rebuilding. Why? Bad parts or bad casting? I've had much better luck with old Carter carbs. Often I can just bolt them on and go, even if they look cruddy. Worst case, they may require a new accelerator pump. Original Carter AVS carbs are even better. I have used 4 of them and have never had to rebuild any of them, ever. |

Location: Pau, S-W France | With my (new) Edelbrock i must say i had a problem: a large fuel leakage which stalled the engine ! It was a perforated float ! |
