I have 275x60x15 tires on the back of my '58 Coronet. I didn't have to modify anything. I used a 0 offset wheel - or in other words - an 8" wheel with 4.5" backspace.

Stock rear end on it, except with 12" drum brakes from a Chrysler. And this is about the widest tire that will fit. Because I use those Monroe overload shocks that don't extend very long, I have to disconnect them in order to remove or install the tires.

Good deal. Dropping shocks a small price to pay IMO. Thanks!

275/60 is an easy fit on a '60 NewYorker too;
I'm currently running Mickey Thompson I-profile tires. Their size-markings are a bit different but I recall it's something around 295/60.
Very light/slight rubbing during sharp corners where some body-lean is present. Most likely won't be an issue with a better swaybar.

I am running 255x60x15 tires on the front of my Dodge. They seem to be about the widest you can go without hitting things. The raised lettering on the inside of the tire will occasionally rub the upper control arm.

So I am going to try 15x8 with 4.25 backspace and 255/60/15 on the rear, and 15x7 with 4" backspace and 215/70/15 on the front..... I measured and it looks like it SHOULD fit..... Manual steering so I wanted a fairly narrow tire up front.
