is the ibm card the body tag? my 55 is early and doesn't have one (was told they came on later 55's?) also my engine is long gone. I guess for starters is get the broadcast sheet from fca and go from there

Don't know about 1955 Dodge body tags but I am pretty sure that you will NOT get a broadcast sheet from FCA. At best you will get a letter and a copy of the IBM card image. (The IBM cards were put onto microfiche and then destroyed (or they burnt in some fire) - which is too bad because back in the day, the IBM card and the broadcast sheet were probably linked by a card reader/printer system (now long gone)).
Some people have found broadcast sheets taped to the top of the cardboard glove box shell - or under the rear seat - or under the carpet - or nothing.
An example IBM card image (my car) and a thread in which attempts are made to decifer the card:

Not sure about the accepting payment comment but I do know that if you can't prove that you are the registered (titled) owner, then they are not going to provide you with anything and would return your check uncashed.
