I only can find it's a 1958 B 350 but I don't know what the -4 is or the L6

Location: Netherlands | I recall "-4" means something like they were up to the 4th mold to cast the engine blocks with.

You're going down the wrong road Greg. 1944 is just a prefix for many 1958 parts, not the start of a sequential casting number 1,944,000.
