are the rockers shot? |

Location: arizona | the back is lowered 3". im letting pb blaster work its magic on the torsion bar hardware before i crank the front down. the rockers are solid but the rear quarter is rotted out and so is the bottom of the decklid. and the floor boards need some lovin. and the front fenders need some hammer and dolly work. |

Location: Parts Unknown | One FL car I could really dig is exactly what you have there ...
a boring beige 61 Pioneer 4 door sedan. So unsexy it is just
awesome ! I never liked the add-on tail lights, so those would
have to go. I'd run blackwalls and dog dishies to play up the
stripper/boring statement, but damm ... that is cool. Love it !
My ugly-azz boring stripper sedan :

Nice project. The '61 Dodge is likely my favorite from '61 with it's very unique frumpy style. Rather than frenching in the uppper taillights, I think it would look better and compliment the style if you were to extend the lower taillights close to the license plate along the bottom valence. I think that would look pretty good that way and not detract from the unique fin structure as much as frenching the uppers would.
Oh...and I would also just sand that rust down a bit and clear coat it. A rusty looking 4dr sedan with power & handling would have a cool factor all it's own.

Location: arizona | I was driving the car daily for a while, the then ammeter smoke show happened.so that was a wrench in the spokes. But I knew I needed to get it going again. So I yarded all the wiring out so we can start from scratch. Then covid hit and I was out of work and low on funds. So doing big upgrades wasn't gonna happen for a while. So I pulled the front clip apart to paint and clean up in the mean time

Location: arizona | Once I got back to work I ordered a brake booster, and it's been down hill from there since. That was around May of 2021. Then i starting hitting junkyards and ordering parts. Bought a set of aspen spindles in Fresno, john at big M had a deck lid for me, found a nice 8.25 rearend from a 73 Cuda out near bakersfield.. then i ordered an 9+3 wiring harness from rebel wire. So the car is rewired now, brakes are all plumbed, and no I just need to finish getting the front end together so it's drivable again

stayed tight. |

An ammeter/wiring fire sidelined my car in 1975. My parents bought it in 1969, and when it quit I was only 11 and couldn't help my dad much. I rescued it from a friend's salvage yard about 4 years ago. I love these old cars, summer cruising is like driving an old memory.

Location: arizona | Because the front fenders dents are hard to get to with hammer and dolly and I don't have a stud gun and slide hammer, I removed the headlight/grill pocket since I have do make some repairs anyway on the grill mount. Once it was out I hammered out the dents and used my english wheel to iron out some of the long creases that stemmed off the bigger dents, it's a far reach from perfect so some filler will be needed but it's alot better. I don't do this for a living but very passionate about cars in general and metal shaping. So I'm learning as I go, with hopes to have something to fall back on if need be. I turned 30 last year, and very excited after all the years of buying and selling unfinished projects since my teens, I finally have the means to get one done and make it nice |

Location: So. Cal | I use the same approach as you for finding appropriate patches. Finding the curve required and then match that curve to another panel, and cut out at that location. Works really well without inducing stress from bending. Roof sections & trunk lids are really good for supplying patches like these. |

Location: arizona | @powerflite It does work very well, and theres something satisfying know that your using old steel as well. I think it's the fact the you can upcycle it rather than scraping it out. I replace the decklid so the old one was the perfect donor. I'll use as much of it as I can |

Location: arizona | Making some more progress. Got the fender where I like it, should get it back on the car this weekend. Then I will start working on the other fender repairing the same rusted areas. Then jump on the hood. I'm gonna sand and paint and do body as need 1 panel at a time. My intention is to get the car fairly smoothed out and in one color. I wanna just drive it for a year or 2 and enjoy it for a while before diving into the true bodywork and paint.

Haha, can't say I like the shaved handles, but otherwise I do the same. I'm always, when possible, using 50s steel. 1. correct gauge. 2. good feeling you are recycling steel that consumed energy 3. Its nothing new, all old steel on my ride, that cruised the Eisenhower highways 60+ years ago |

Location: arizona | Should have the floors finished this week so we can get the other seat mocked up. Then I'm gonna build a small tunnel for rear drive shaft clearance. Paint the floors and seal it. Them I'm just gonna drive the hell out of it for a while. Lots of work put in this year, ready to enjoy it for a while |

Location: arizona | Well I got the floors buttoned up, formed a new rear driveshaft tunnel section to eliminate the rubbing, got the seats mounted up and the front sheet metal all completely bolted up. Felt good to get it off the stands and wash it for the first time since I painted it. And sitting in with solid floors for the first time is a great feeling!

Location: arizona | Took it for a short sprint yesterday, everything feels great and works as it should, one thing I need to do this week is wire up a pair of diodes for the turn signal indicator. Insurance is current and should be ready to start stacking some miles this week. I pre registered to go to a car show up in Mt Shasta this weekend with some buddys, so fingers crossed I'll be ready |

Location: arizona | It's came in handy a few times! I really don't have the space, but it's got wheels on it so I can shove it outside out of the way. And I also mounted my shrinker/stretcher to it. So it's dual purpose
