Sorry for the late post in this thread...
'Personal experience' in this field is the most awful thing to endure. As I also speak from 'personal experience'.
In the wake of our 28-state jaunt across the USA in 2012, my wife and I planned to go through all the other states in our next trip, which included Alabama of course. She had a bag packed with the clothes she planned to wear during the trip when we learned she would not be going. We were also planning to go to Europe during that jaunt.
A forum friend of mine had his wife take one of Janet's outfits and wear it somewhere in Europe we would have visited, but I would much preferred she had been there to wear it when I visited Alabama.
The biggest mistake people make as they look on is to say, "I know how you feel." Unless they have endured the loss of a long-term marriage mate they cannot know. Not in the slightest.
Now I have done what is commonly known as 'moved on', I remarried early last year. But that has not changed the fact that every day I think of Janet. As the four-year mark approaches I feel sure this will not change.
I have no doubt there are more than just three of us in this situation on this forum. We do understand, we do 'know how you feel', or at least have many of the same feelings.
My condolences..., |

Location: York County, PA | Well said, Ray. I, too, am moving on in my own way. Since I was a lot younger than Harry with no children, I am looking forward to returning to work as a mechanical engineer. My biggest frustration is the slow pace of getting these old car projects repaired and sold. It is tough looking at ol' Ridgerunner ('60 Phoenix) and knowing that Harry never sat behind the wheel of that sedan. Old cars are not nearly as much fun when you are by yourself. |
