Location: Wild Wonderful | I am going to sell the black and white Firedome spring special and the Spanish Gold 2 door hardtop parts car with it.
As most of you know, the spring special has been taken apart. The parts car will help fix it. I will make sure all the
parts are there. If you want to see how I got the black and white SS, please go to " 2014 Merry Christmas to me "
under members rides. I need to get about $7k for the both of them.

Location: Wild Wonderful | This car is still for sale. I took it all apart, but I am going to put it back together.
I have bought a lot of parts and panels for it. If you are interested in it, let me know. If you want me to
do something to it, real quick, I will see what I can do. It has new doors, trunk lid, & front inner fenders.
I got a real good set of quarter panels. I only screwed them to the car. I am just going to put the car
together really quick, so it can make the trip over seas. Those guys over there know how to weld and
put the car together correctly. The people in the USA just don't know how to handle a car like this.

Location: NY & VT | I wouldn't make the generalization that "people in the USA don't know how to handle a car like this".
There's plenty of restorers here that are every bit as competent and perfectionist as the Swedes, or anybody else.
Our own John "Big M" is the proof of that! Your're not that far from PA, go see Al Prueitt in Glen Rock PA sometime to see some incredible work.
There's loads of others as well. The difference is that Swedes, however, have money to spend and are more willing to spend it. Talented people like Al Prueitt and Jan Fridberg aren't free,

Location: Wild Wonderful | Of course there are exceptions to the rule, but in general, Americans are sissies when it comes to rust. Prove me wrong.
The 7k was for both 2 door hardtops. At the time I was throwing a number at the wall to see if it sticks.
Now that I have Titles for everything in the back yard, I would like to sell the cars separately. So if someone
wants to make me an offer on the whole back yard, I am willing to listen.
I have a lot more panels and trim pieces for this car. I replaced the doors, fenders, trunk
lid, Speedometer, gauges, and clock. I bought rocker panels, quarter panels, floor panels, and trunk panels.
I never got a chance to replace the windshield yet. It has a 6" crack on the passenger side.
Send me a serious offer, the worst I can do is say no, but I am sure we can meet somewhere in the middle.
I want someone who is not afraid to restore this car. I would love to see it black and white, or black and silver, with
a red and black interior. Awesome.
Yes, those quarters are just screwed on, for now.

I paint all my cars, takes a day to get it done even in the driveway.
https://www.amazon.com/3M-16580-Accuspray-System-Standard/dp/B01497M...
get the 3m accuspray gun.
Go get your colors and some clear coat. I am painting my car in single stage.
sand it and buff it out.
Paint jobs go from 3500 to 25000$ and "depends" ... if your car is stripped its super easy.
You have a earl scheib in WV in dunbar? They "shoot" the car for 399$ Thats basically just the labor in the booth.

Prob put 4 coats of clear on it. two coats of black. eastwood paints are what I'm going with, their single stage but your local paint shops will have them also. Probably for cheaper https://www.eastwood.com/paints/automotive-refinishing.html

Don't feel bad, that's more welding than anyone wants to do.
But I'm gonna do it anyway.
I didn't think that anyone was going to take it over in this condition. But I figured that I would put it out there just
to let people know about it, and to see if anyone wanted a Spring Special. I will continue to work on it, when I get the chance. |

| It's all together, haven't done any disassembly. First step is to get it running and moving under it's own power and go from there. It needs rear floors bad and the center of the trunk, outer rockers, but it's not nearly as bad as this car quarters are nice inner rockers good front floors aren't bad doors and front clip good. |

" Can't wait to see it on the road again. I would like to see all three of these SS cars together on the road sometime.
I hope that whomever buys this SS car will have the time, patience and stamina to put it back together correctly.
A lot of parts were missing when I got it, but I have put a lot into it. Someone with welding skills will have a nice car.

BTW, before I painted the interior, I treated the metal with rust neutralizer. So whoever gets this car will not have to worry
about any rust for a while.
Also, that brown looking stuff, on the wall, in the back seat area, is the original glue. I think someone got carried away
when they were applying it.

Whoa, Dude! What did you do?
The usual mistake, cut out way too much. Do not let the people who sold you the replacemet panel (that is NEVER like OE) determine how much you remove. Only fix the rust. It is important to keep solid anchor points, if you want the metal shape like from the factory afterwards. |

Trust me, I did not cut out way too much. I only cut out the rust, and this is what I was left with. I still have to cut
about two inches off of the top/front of that front replacement panel. Very seldom do I use the complete panel.
Also, remember, that some of this area was already cut out by the previous owner. |

Its brutal when your in a hurry, im dealing with weather up here also, makes it worse... But that car is almost heading "downhill"... But i actually like doing the work and it gets me away from my desk.
I like it better when im not rushed though You can restore at your leisure.

| heh i made it sound a bit too easy
But if your painting in your garage, your best off painting the car in parts.
I was running into weather issues and the body work is brutal. Getting the body straight is the issue.
I was watching "bitching rides" and I watched them skim coat the entire car in bondo... i understand why now on these old cars.
They had tons of stamping ripples in the bodies.
So to shoot my single stage I use a 1.4 tip(orange). Youll need the liners and caps.
I used "featherfill G2" bondo filler primer to get thing straight, it takes 3 series of coats to get things good.
I have not used the base clear with the accuspray yet. I find single stage paints are very good quality now. Check out eastwood or Nason.
I use the 2.0 tip(red one)
To use the accuspray be VERY careful not to put wear on the tabs. push the edges in good so they dont scrape on the gun, once you booger up a latching corner the tip is garbage. If the tip does not have a tight seal it wont shoot at all.
Do not do the push on "latching" and snapping like they show, notice how they push the buttons on the side in when they remove the tip? Put the tip like that also so it doesnt harm the latches. I had a couple tips shred the latches when i tried to snap them on. So pull trigger, push both buttons in and put tip on.

Also verify the 6 air holes in the back of the tip are formed right, i had some 2.0 tips that i had to punch out. I had a couple "misformed" tips... that pissed me off alot since i couldnt figure out why it wouldnt shoot right.
guy shows about cleaning it well. Except youll need to take the tip off and clean from the back.

| just another mention, this is a good starter gun and can be used even later for experienced painting. I think i got mine for 140$ shipped for the basic kit.
I bought some liners and cups off amazon(they were chinese knockoffs and needed some attention but work fine) and more tips.
If your going to paint 15 cars your better off buying an expensive gun.
you will get 3-5 shoots with a tip if your careful not the trash the latches. be careful with the tip cleaning and you can get some life out of them.
For me who paints a car every couple of years its a great choice, the clean up is the best part To clean the tip, i pour some laq thinner in the top and shake a bit then spray, repeat that a few times, take the tip off, clean the needle and the back of the tip down the hole. I put some thinner in the back with my finger over the tip and back hole and shake and rinse a few times. |

Location: San Antonio TX | Just got it yesterday. It's at my mechanic's shop right now, and I'll be heading over there this weekend to sort out all the parts in the trunk and get a start on the rust repair. |

Miles, I'm glad it made it there okay. Good luck. It sounds like you are going to have it back on
the road long before I get this other one done. |
