window seal?

I believe this is a leading cause of some rust issues due to the amount of debris that gets inside the door then sits there wet for days on unpainted and unsealed surfaces. Modern cars use a rubber strip that glides along the window which seals out large debris very well. Has anyone used something like this versus the felt? Thanks 1957 Imperial 1960 300F
