I've heard on some of the other forums that he is dealing with some medical issues - one surgery done and at least one more still to go. As of January 2017, he temporarily stopped taking orders. No idea as to when he'll be back, but the word is optimistic that he will.

This copied from the Facebook Forum:

From Ian J Smale For those who don;t know what is happening with Gary: This is from Rich Barber of the Chrysler 300 Club:

"Due to circulation and other problems, he had the end two joints of his left big toe amputated—the first of three major surgeries. Although the surgery went OK, he was disappointed the surgeon took two joints instead of one. Problems with his severely-damaged left ankle have necessitated replacement of his right hip joint. That surgery will be delayed for three months to make sure his body is healed enough to make the hip replacement safe. After healing from the hip replacement, he will be scheduled for amputation of his left foot below the knee. That’s the mixed news for Gary. There is light at the end of the long tunnel.

For the rest of us who value Gary as a friend, as well as a provider of otherwise unobtainium items for our 300’s, the good news is that it appears there is a plan to return him to a full mobility, pain-free and productive existence and continuation of his business providing over 700 restoration items from screws to full leather seat covers. Additionally, in the interim, Gary continues the majority of his business as his limited mobility allows. He says he is catching up on back orders somewhat and is taking orders. He is molding rubber parts but trunk panel kits are on hold until warmer & dryer weather when they can be properly painted. He is working on seat sets and has a big batch of leather coming for more. New seat orders are at least a couple months out. He said he would appreciate knowing of customers wants and needs for seating and other major items in advance so he can plan to have material on hand when needed."

Maybe someone has updated info?

I sent in a small order a few weeks ago and got it back in a little over a week so I believe he might be getting some help?

Please note that he wishes all orders to include a 10% increase over the prices on his last list.

Steph give him a little more time. I believe he makes each set of these as they are ordered, and it could be difficult if he is still recovering from amputation surgery. If your order was placed and your check was cashed, you'll get them, hopefully soon

Waiting for him to get home from rehab, get mobile within his shop, then fly out to inspect the place. Talked to him this week. Hopefully get out there in 2-3 weeks depending on his progress. Will do an overnight to see what I'm getting into. Come up with an outline for an agreement, to see if it works for both. If it does, send someone for a week to apprentice under him for 7-10 days to learn his process's and go from there. IT's not a short process.

Mike, thanks so much for taking the time to follow up on this. I bought many small parts from Gary that were invaluable in restoring my 57 Dodge. I'm sure many others could say the same for their vehicles. It would be especially nice to see the business "stay in the family", so to speak.

There will be challenges of course. There is no formal inventory system, it's what is in his head, which is everything. Also, cost of goods vs what he's selling. It needs to be a viable business. I'll have a lot of work to do once I visit to get a true costs of goods to make sure this can function as a viable business. I have a possible location where this would work. Next trick is upholstery, as I think I have that figured out as well. A lot of variables, but I'm sure it can be worked out. What I lack in forward look knowledge, I make up for with business knowledge. We will see!

I and a bunch of us hope it work out. Can you imagine trying to get 'Classic, Vans, Steele, or Year One' to make these little parts? One piece windshields and backlight seals/gaskets would be great. Marc.

I just sent a fax with few part of the out of the shelf category, prepaid by PayPal. The fax's ringing but no answer. It seems the fax machine is out of work right now. God bless Gary Goers and serves him a fast recovery and a good solution for him (I know he would retire).

I sent an order to Gary 12/1 and received it 2/5, with only one part unfilled (out of 15). Along with it was a letter from Gary detailing his health issues and stating that a helper would be filling orders from stock as much as possible, but that labor-intensive items would be a problem. He also asked that orders add 10% due to added costs that have not been reflected in his catalog prices for a long time.

I know we all wish him a speedy recovery and a sale of his business if that is his best move.

On both orders I sent by fax (only the first, acutally the fax machine still doesn't answer) I increased the prices (at the form) by between 10 % and 25 % on my own. Good luck I added the parts (and amount) on the PayPal transfer for the second order....

He may have to produce the part. That takes his time, they are filling orders of in stock items.

What did they order?

I got some emblems and lenses, 58 dodge turns and 57 Chrysler turns and 300c emblem

Someone shared with me that Gary had yet another surgery, and I believe that was after his letter from late 2017 where he explained, "My legs are so bad that I can barely walk at all. Even with a walker I am very limited. I've been inundated with orders for Chrysler 300 seats to do, am managing to make progress on those and will finish them all by early next year. I can still take small parts orders, but not large items such as trunk panels....I thank you for your patronage over the past decades and hope to be able to keep supplying parts..." I'm sure especially the large items and cutting and sewing leather is a real challenge when everybody probably starting flooding him with orders (including me two years ago) and just living life and getting around has become a serious, tiring challenge. But I am sure the doctors didn't remove his honestly.

I'm not quite done with my complete restoration so having the products that Gary sells is really invaluable. No one carries parts for the 55-56 Chrysler and DeSoto cars. It's great there is some positive talk on the future of the business. I can sleep better at night.

Mike M. any update on continuing the business? A lot of FL folks depend on Gary and there is no alternative for much of what he provides.
Gary got his start working with and for Richard Carpenter, too bad RC can't also help with his near limitless resources and profound love of FL cars

In the first parcel was a copy of the fax with the amount I payed too much. But neither the second order nor the back transfer has arriven until now. The parts for the second order I put as a sidemark into the comment field of the money transfer (PayPal).

I really don‘t know if I‘ll get the second order. Of course it‘s my fault I didn’t order ways earlier.

Still I wish superb healing and recovery for Gary Goers. And a good solution to put over his business to younger hands as he wishes.

Happy Restoration!

I have passed on the opportunity as my other business ventures are consuming way too much of my time. I was able to pass information on to someone who I had a lot of trust in, who is MORE than capable. I know they're set to meet and hopefully all goes well.

Thought I'd report that I submitted an order to Gary 8/28 for 15 rubber parts, and received them all yesterday, less than 2 weeks later. I even re-ordered a very hard-to-find pair of wagon tailgate seal corners that were the only thing in my last order that was not sent, and got them too. I don't know if Gary has a helper, but this was unexpectedly fast service.

I've given some thought to approaching him about taking on his business. I ran a very successful mail-order parts business (for DeLoreans) for 18 years so have some experience, but just don't feel like I have the Mopar knowledge to do justice to his legacy. My FWDLK experience is pretty much limited to '57 Dodges. I don't have the room for inventory any more, plus at 69 I think it would be too much to take on now. I hope someone comes forward and helps us all out.

I mailed a letter with check. No inquiry beforehand. He was out of 61/62 Chrysler/DeSoto parking lenses though and enclosed a check in the shipment for the difference. A very kind man to do business with.

I recently sent a couple of orders via regular mail (with a check enclosed) totaling well over 50 items and got almost all of them in three weeks from the order. Some lenses and special items were not available, but all the rubber and metal parts were. Also talked with Gary over the phone, and although he is in a wheelchair, he is still able to mold rubber pieces and also has plenty of inventory left in weatherstrip rubber etc. But he is about to retire and is actively working on getting his business transferred over.

Wow that is freaky. I cannot find ANY web presence of this Quirey Quality company. Found a guy on linkedIn that works there. But they are like completely off the grid. Even Gary Goers has a home page with a link to his catalog.

Not surprising Mark, pretty much every manufacture of FL parts are like that, including the guys in Europe, which they don't even bother in answer requests...

This is great news. I hope Gary is doing OK, and I hope he is happy knowing his legacy will continue, I know lots of future customers for these part will be! Gary is a stand-up guy.

Denis, you are 100% right, these cars are a difficult proposition when sourcing parts. I'll bet every one of us is hoarding boxes of stuff.

We are back in Pa awaiting the trucks of inventory to arrive from Montana. Quirey currently does not have a website because we have exclusively been a manufacturer supplying the best Mopar vendors in the world. We will continue to use Goers’s part numbers and catalog until new ones are produced. We are available M-Th 9-5 and will answer all responses by phone or email. We also plan to have a presence at various shows throughout the year. We are taking orders and will ship once trucks are unloaded. Please feel to call if you have any questions. Thank you.

Last week I did a phone call to Quirey Quality Design Co and got Todd at the other end. According  Noel Hastalis (owner of a 300F) the Chrylser 300 International Club does not order for members.

At the phone call I asked if I could get a complete set of cushions for my 300F. Todd asked if I would like to get a set of seat covers as well. I agreed. I had to write a confirmation via email. The email adress is above in an other answer.

I got the answer, that I‘ll get the price when the work has performed.

I assume to get parts out of the catalogof Gary Goers, just write an email with the parts you wish, GG-Catalog plus 30% (to estimate the price) and provide your address.

Happy Restoring!

With Quirey Quality Design Co I got very good results in the communicativ way. First I got an announcement that the company started to build the 55/56 Chrysler seat covers. Soon as they are done they will start with the 300F seat covers. Then I‘ll get a specific time frame until completed. I asked about the color to make sure I‘ll get the stock tan color. Todd answered they‘ll use Garys leather they got. This is almost an exceptional superb service I got.

Happy Restoring

in the meantime I got a notification about the F seat covers and seat/back rest rubber cushions from Todd...

"Dieter, we are finally starting F covers. ETA around 8 weeks. The cost came in at 5200 for covers and foam. We are taking deposits of half up front. Let me know if you want these done. Thanks, Todd"

I was asking if the headliner is included or not...

"Dieter, thank you! Thanks for you patience on these covers. The 57C's came out really nice. The headliner will be 175. We don't need half for that. The only reason we need half is we made sets of the 57's and didn't take a deposit. Now we are having an issue of getting paid on a few. Our lady wants paid weather we get paid or not. LOL. The cost is much higher than Gary's, but to find a talented seamstress doesn't come cheap. Thanks, Todd"

It's a very disappointing behavior of some Letter car owners to order and not to pay. It's a shame for all of Letter car owners I assume. So, you see, the seat covers will cost loads more due to the external sewing. It needs a heay (industrial) sewing machine (not comparable with a house hold sewing machine normally used by house wifes).

I would suggest calling them and complaining. I had good luck with the rubber parts that I bought from them. The trunk panels should have been shipped in a flat box. When I bought mine from Gary, that's how they were shipped.

Gary was trying to get my seat covers done but didn't make it. Then I was on the list to get one of the 4 sets the club was going to get made at Legendary. Then I got the notification from Quiery but the price is much higher. Contacted the club and they said they couldn't do the covers with Legendary because they couldn't get the carpet necessary. Wish I'd known that as I have a roll of carpet for it. I was planning on getting the covers from Gary and putting them in storage until I can get the car done. Not sure I want to spend 5 grand to do the same thing. And I want to see how the new ones come out. I did get the door panel kits from Gary along with the armrest covers, trunk carpet, trunk panels and other stuff.

Hopefully someone will give feedback on the F seat covers. I'm going to spend that money on redoing the seats in my new '60 T&C instead.

I apologize for you having a problem with what you received. Trust me the boards did not look like that when they left. Please email or call the office so we can resolve any problems. We are doing our best to make quality parts. I acquired a number of finished glove boxes from Gary and have not made any in our shop so we missed the tape repair. As far a belt strips we have all styles available and will provide what you require. Again please contact so we can correct. Thank you. Dave

Hi Nick
10/16/2019 I got a question to judge about it. The subject was "piping" from Dave. GG made the piping out of vinil, Quirey Quality Design got a sample of plastic - as the original ones were made of - with a very close color match, but not perfect. I opted for the plastic piping. The seat covers are in process now.

As soon as I got the parcel (via a container to my country) I'll post a picture of the result. Okay?

Happy Restoring!

Dieter

Hi Dave,

Have emailed Todd, no reply as yet but they are in the box you sent?
So must have been packaged like that, and because they were going to United Kingdom I had you send them to Florida so I could get them in a container as I thought the box would have been flat and postage costs straight to United Kingdom would be a fortune seeing as it was $175 just to Florida.

Gary shipped my boards in a flat box. it was about 3 inches thick with white styrofoam sheets to protect them. I still have the box. I use it to lay on under the cars.

QQE - 2019-10-26 3:09 PM Dieter and Nick, I found a source to have the plastic piping made as an exact color match. These seats will be really nice. Dave

Thanks a lot for your update. With warmest wishes to you.

Dieter
