Hey there everyone,

I just got an NOS carb off of ebay and I am wondering if I should do anything to it first before I just install it?

I was thinking that considering it's age I might want to pull the accelerator pump out and soak it first but what else?

Thanks, Andrew

Besides the accelerator pump, I'd also blow out all the passages with compressed air.

It will probably need a rebuild, but you could try soaking the whole thing in a container of fuel to soak (and swell) all the dried up gaskets and stuff.

After a week or so, pull it out and empty it, go over the screws and give it a try

I poured atf down the vent till the bowl was filled and worked the acellerator pump a few squirts then let it sit for about a week.. Then bolted on the car and it worked perfectly. The atf helps the accelerator pump and gaskets

I used around 4 NOS carbs so far and they need nothing, just bolted fuel and go...

Well I went with Denis on this. Bolted, fueled and it went off without even a hickup. All I had to do was set the curb idle. Oh, and swap out the air cleaner. Seems the NOS carb has a vacuum pot on it that the other carb did no have and my air cleaner wouldn't fit.
