Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | so , i decided to try my hand at sewing up upholstery . i bought an old , real nice 3/4 size PFAFF-30 . i've done some small things in the past on a singer but this
will be a first . should be here in a couple of days , then i'll put together a table big enough for the machine and work area , with a smooth plastic top over
5/8 or 3/4 plywood . can't say its goin to be fun at first but i've always wanted to give it a try , leather , lots of leather----------------------------------------later |

Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | nope , not a walking foot but i'm not real sure i'd need one for upholstery . here's a you tube docudrama of the model i bought , with mine being
in an equal condition . these machines are also built strong enough to sew almost a 1/2" of harness leather ------------------------------later

Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | i think i put everything together that i might need including hides except for a working table . most likely i just frame a 4x8 piece of 5/8 plywood and a good set of legs that can be removed for storage but
it just might take a while to get started , with life gettin in the way and all . for anyone thinkin they might give the same a shot . it isn't real cheap but not real expensive either . @ 2 full hides , machine , needles ,
thread , foam , etc. , i've got about 600$ invested . even if i can do just my bucket seats , i'm thinkin it'll be worth the effort . now if only life would move aside and let me proceed , i'd get started -----------------------------later |

Location: WHEELING,WV.>>>HOME OF WWVA | i can tell you with 100 % certainty that if you're going to try sewing rolled panels with 1/2 foam/scrim backing , you're going to need a walking foot machine . with the foam backing the machine dawgs won't
move the material far enough each stitch to give a proper stitch . it's like moving jello in a bowl . the jello will move but the bowl stands still . so i' started looking around to try to find a good walking foot machine
for a reasonable price . the good part ruled out almost all made in the far east . i just couldn't find anything good said on the net about them . so i came across a SAILRITE walking foot machine , made
in the USA , with a 2 yr parts and labor warranty . i bought the LSZ1-basic , mainly because it has zig-zag as a feature . all of the sailrite models working parts are the same . the only things that change
per model is any or all add on's . i'll see just how it goes when it gets here but even with the added cost of a new machine , i think i'm still ahead of the game and the old dog is learning new tricks -----------------------------later |

Stuff with foam on it and also sewing cloth and vinyl together or multiple layers were where the walking foot came into its own
Mine goes forward and back thats all, no other stitch functions, apart from stitch leanth and bobbin winding, of coarse
