Location: The Mile High City | Not Mine - posted April 5, 2015 - will be crushed (?) May 18, 2015 - that is pretty dramatic! Based on the low price of scrap (discussed recently in the list serv), you could get this car for less than $1000 on or around May 18.
1959 Dodge Coronet 4 door sedan, 326 poly, 3 speed manual, bought new one owner. I have all documentation and original Colorado title. This car is a beautiful representation of 50s Mopar. 12000 or reasonable offer..call 303-452-4986 or 303-968-0510 Ask for Art. if no one wants to buy I will send to crusher in in six weeks. no emails http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4965293053.html

Location: NY & VT | Does he really think that kind of drama queen ad will get results? Not a bad car, but what an idiot. |

Location: The Mile High City | Yep, I think you pegged it Roger - a sales ploy. You can tell by the pictures of the garage, this fella is a car guy. No way on Earth he would sell it for $275 scrap value! But just think if he was serious: all of the sudden, a $500 offer looks pretty darn reasonable compared to what he proposed! |

Might teach him not to be a d*ck
To me, putting a statement like that is just inviting the low ballers to throw stupid numbers at you
If you say heres the price and your not in a hurry to sell it, you get much less low ballers, because its easy to say "this much or I keep it"
When I sell a car, I always get the name and phone number and what the offer was of anyone that puts an offer on it and if it doesnt sell for what I want for it, I have a few interested people to negotiate with

Location: Pacific Northwest | I spoke to the seller awhile back and he said it was meant as a joke. I think he was trying to draw attention to his ad. He is trying to sell a base model 4 door sedan for over 10 grand and I can't imagine he is getting much of a response. I've called on a few of these ads over the last few months and most people figure old car=easy money. I had a conversation with a guy who honestly figured his '62 4 door Newport was just as desirable as a Road Runner. I tried to explain a little and realized it was no use.
This seller got the car from his dad who was allegedly a Mopar mechanic. Its got some shoddy patch panels in the trunk, at least one respray and someone here thought the interior had been redone. |
