If it's your post, and you get to it within a day or so after posting, you should be able to click an EDIT button for the post.  When you are in EDIT mode there will be a DELETE button.  That's what I recall from memory so the detail may be off a little.  I believe I read somewhere that after a day or two the post gets "locked" and only a moderator can delete it.
