Hey everyone!

January is quickly coming to a close, which means there's roughly 5 months until the Forward Look Nationals at the Chrysler Carlisle show. A lot of you have already booked your hotel (if you haven't, please see our other thread regarding the special deal available at the Red Roof Inn in Carlisle). We're trying to get a feel of who is coming and which Iron Mistress (if any) may be accompanying you. This insight will help us prepare how much space will be needed to display cars, and how many various years, makes, and models will be on display. We aren't asking for a solid commitment (a lot can happen in 5 months), but if you have a good general idea of what you'll bring or if you will be there-- that will be a tremendous help.

If you are bringing a vehicle, but haven't yet pre-registered, be sure to check out CarlisleEvents.com. Preregistration is currently $55 for two people over the entire weekend. Please be sure to register your vehicle under the group name "The Forward Look". Our group will be displayed around the dealership building (Building G. If you've been to Carlisle, you'll know where I'm talking about), however, if you will be registering a NON-Forward Look era vehicle you can still register under our group name. Help support The Forward Look network at the show!

Jeff and I will be there with at least two vehicles: the 1958 Plymouth Belvedere sedan that we brought last year, and we have high hopes to bring our 1958 Plymouth Sport Suburban stationwagon, too.

Stay tuned and watch the main thread for more information as it becomes available, and be sure to post on this thread to let us know you're coming! See you there!

Should be there in my 1959 Belvedere. (If I get her restoration finished by then!) or another Forward Look...

I'm already registered. Will I receive anything in the mail? Also I'm assuming you can change the registered car should I need to drive a different FL of mine?

I've never pre registered a car before. Just trying to figure out the details.

Hi Jess:

Count me in. I will be there for sure. It's my intention to drive my '57 Fury out there this year, assuming it's engine transplant project gets finished. So far, things are still relatively on track. If for whatever reason it isn't finished, I'll still go no matter what. My vacation time from work is already booked!

If at all possible, I'd like to try and get out there for the Wednesday before the show. I can definitely lend a hand setting up if there's stuff you need me to do.

I'll be there. I'll be driving a 1959 Belvedere 2dr HT or if I feel real adventurous a 1959 2dr HT Dodge Coronet d500.

I'm planning on driving up from Georgia, I will be in either a 1960 or 1961 Plymouth 2-door wagon.

Thanks for all your preparation for this, it looks like it will be a blast!

I've got a similar question to what Austin asked, I will be driving the '59 Plymouth if it is completed and roadworthy, if not, it will be another FL car. I have not registered with Carlisle yet due to this question.

I will be bringing the 59 Custom Royal, because the 58 Firedome needs way too much help.

Room is booked at Motel 6 and I'll be there for sure, with a Canadian Forward look vehicle entry: my 1958 Dodge Regent Coupe.

I hope I won't be put in an import section!??

I'll be there. I don't have a car yet, so I'm not sure what I'll be bringing. Still checking the for sale ads daily. I do have the room reserved at the Red Roof Inn for Austin, Anthony and I. I'd hate to have to show up in my Thunderbird or Galaxie.......

Just a note here. I went to the 2011 Chrysler show. I showed up on Friday and registered my car for the 1957 to 59 cars. When I got to my section,
there was no room for my car. My car sat in the aisle most of the day. So, it is best to let Carlisle know that you are bringing a car, so they can have
a space for you when you get there. They are not going to be ready for all of our cars that are going to be there this year, unless we tell them.

You can register thursday, friday or saturday during the show. It's a few extra $$ over doing it early.

I forgot to register two years ago, and did it thursday when i arrived. took maybe 10 minutes at the most.

If you have already registered, you will receive your registration in the mail about a month before the show. It includes your registration receipt with your car information, windshield decal, etc. When it arrives, you know its show time.

Great to see everyone coming. We wont be parking our cars on the showfield. they will be around the dealership building. We should have plenty of parking and John is working to arrange overflow should it be needed. Thats why Jessica started this post so we can get a feel for how much room we need.

Hey big m,

Just to follow up, there is no problem switching one registered vehicle for another. I know people who have done just that and it hasn't been an issue. Carlisle Events takes into

consideration that vehicle plans change and quite often they happen last minute. See You In July !

Hey all!

Just to reiterate that you'll receive your registration packet through the mail if you pre-register online. It's a whole lot easier to preregister as you can affix your sticker on your windshield and drive through the gate on opening day. If you decide to register day of, that is fine too and isn't too difficult of a process, however please take into account that there will be many who also may be registering, and there could be a bit of a line to wait in.

If you need to change vehicles at the last minute, but are preregistered for another car, it won't be a problem. You will need to visit guest services and simply exchange your window sticker.

Sounds like we are going to have a great turn out! I can't wait to meet everyone and see your finned beauties if you are able to bring one.

Who else is coming? You don't want to miss this!

Since I have owned my Suburban, I have only been able to make one Carlisle event. I just found out that I will not be on vacation that weekend, so, after reading of all you people from around the world and north America saying they will be there, I think I should at least represent Pennsylvania. Hopefully there will be a lot of Pa. people there? Fortunately, my sister lives near Harrisburg and as long as we can visit the local breweries, she says I may stay at her place.
I've walked the fields of Carlisle for several events over the years, but have never entered a car. How does it work? May I come and go as I please or are you expected to be there before the gates open and not leave until the close? I got a bad case of sun poisoning years ago and sometimes don't deal well with the heat.
Anyway, I am planning on bringing my 1960 Plymouth Suburban out.
Karl.

Sweet Car Karl. I was there 2 years ago and the car is brought in whenever you get there. Parked for the day and you can leave when you need too. Never saw folks having an issue coming or going.. just gotta go slow for the Peds.
There is usually a tent we all gather under to avoid heat if needed. I imagine it will be there again?

Sorry Karl, I thought the profile said that. I'm from Collegeville. Think I've seen your wagon around, as it sure is an eye catcher. We'll be heading out on Friday on route 322. Hope to have the AC working in the Flite by then as it sure can be hot. Will probably bring an easy-up and some suds. Can't wait to see you all and your fine rides. Perry.

Hey neighbor.
I do drive mine a lot and if you are with-in 20 miles of Phoenixville, you would stand a good chance of seeing it and these cars are hard to forget when you do see them.
Not sure what I am doing yet. I have some time to burn, so I will take off Friday and possibly Thursday. I usually am in no hurry when I head west and often take 322 also.
Let's hope it will be a beautiful weekend for once and no AC will be needed but if it gets a little warm, these cars still have floor vent, vent windows, and in my case, the rear window.
Oh well, HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Karl.

I wish I could make it but my forward look is in the process of getting a face lift but I plan to make it 1 of these years. I plan to either drive or trailer the car

Hey Steph; You don't need a car to come and enjoy the good times with other FL people.

I do not have the cash to attend. I need it for my forwardlook but 1 of these years I plan to come and with my forward look. I want to compete against another '61 plymouth and there I will get the chance. I am working on it . I only do this on my off days from work. It will get there.

I agree. Let's make history. If you have a Forward Look, bring it.

The count down begins. 42 Days to go.

By the way, those of you who have been there before, I have paid in full and registered my car back in January. Is it normal that I haven't received anything at all, except a confirmation number? I was expecting something would be mailed to me eventually...

actually a 60 dart has no body category but over the years a lot of parts dealers put them in the B Body category , which makes sense , especially the
conv. top sellers . although a 60 dart looks big and bulky , it ways 60 lbs. less than a 69 charger-------------------------------------------------later

Mike -

Thanks for the nice comment. Looking forward (see what I did there?) to being in Carlisle next month. From the looks of it, they should call it Fin City for the weekend.

As far as that picture, I had been looking for a place to shoot the car and went all over the place. I even drove to some spots 10-15 miles away, just cruising the roads looking for something nice that would have good light. As I was coming back home one day, I noticed the grassy spot outside my neighborhood. From my house, it's only a few hundred yards away. Went up there right as the sun was coming up and shot a bunch of pics that turned out great. You look all over the county for a good spot and there's one right in front of your eyes the whole time…

Still holding out hope for that 58 DeS ragtop reunion someday.

Brad

Wow! What a 'Toga! Another great picture.

Brad: you are going to have a great time. I should have planned to go to this one, but I have not. It is probably one of those once-in-a-lifetime deals like Tulsarama, but I just did not get it going. I remember the first time I read about the buried Plymouth (around 1992 or so), I knew where I was going to be in 2007. This one I just haven't elevated. Middle age and kids - that'll do it to ya!

I drove the '59 around town the other day, corrected several minor problems, then drove fifty miles to Yuba City to have the convertible top installed. Still lots to do to complete the car, but major items are finished.

It was wrecked way back in 1965, and hauled to a salvage yard near Ithaca, New York where it languished until I got it.

Will the cars inside the dealership be permitted to move in and out during the day? The reason I ask this is because for some members their car is their transportation to and from lodging.

I am still not sure how I will recognise other members, but am keen to meet as many as possible.

When you come in the gate, go to the Forward Look tent. We all gather there at some point during the day. Looking forward to meeting you.

Catch you later.

IT -might- be by the dealership building.  The location has not been confirmed.

So Penny is all ready for the trip and I left her out in the sun on Friday when it was really warm. I now have a crack in my new windshield at the turn point on the drivers side. It goes from top to bottom. A stress crack for sure, no rock chip there to blame. Grrrrrr...
Couldn't it have waited until after this event. /sigh. Fortunately it's not in my vision.

So if this dealership bldg is outside of the fairgrounds, is it safe to assume we don't enter the fairgrounds at all??? Do we just drive right to the dealership bldg and not gate 2?? How's that work??

The building and the area for the FL cars are not within the fairgrounds. We were up there today and parked next to the tent.
I don't know how they are going to work that but hopefully someone who knows what is going on will let us know ahead of time.
If not then play it by ear and show up at the dealership to find out.

Catch ya later.

Is the showfield the same as the Dealership? Or is that yet a different venue?
Going to jump into the car in the morning. But will check before I go to see if there is any further news.

Well we made it. 550 miles and Penny did real well. 17 miles to the gallon. Not bad for 70-75 MPH. It's raining now.. hopefully will get to clean her up before heading into the fairgrounds. See you all in the morning.

The show was great! Finally I got to see the cars and meet the people of Forward Look. I went for the 4 days and loved every minute. The weather was excellent and the cars even better. My only dissapointment is that there were only a few FL Imperials. No 57, 58, 59 or 60's. I was also keen to check out a LWB 60 Dodge, but none showed up. None the less, the cars that were on show more than made up for the ones that did not. I took hundreds of pics, and will post the best on the site when I get home to Australia. My thanks to the people who made this happen and those who brought their fantastic cars. Steve.

It was a great weekend, a great show, nice cars, and fantastic people. But I was, also, disappointed in the
showing of Forward Look cars. I was hoping that we would fill the whole parking area. But it was just a
normal showing. Here are a couple pics of Sunday.

My brakes locked up again. Sat. morning I pulled the whole pedal assembly. Between the 2 pivot points, I found an 1/8"+ of play. I thought that that HAS to be it. Temp. fixed them and headed over and figured to arrive around noon Sat. Unfortunately, if I may the rod closer, the brakes wold get harder but then the wouldn't release, so backing the pedal off, they would release but then the got soft.
Just before I got on the Pa. turnpike, I thought I smelled anti-freeze so I pulled over to check all under the hood and found a pin hole in the raditator at the top in the solder area. I figured I could get there if I released the pressure. Stayed cool at half temp. for the hour+ drive. Picked up my sister in Harrisburg and headed over. I pulled into gate 3 and no one could recognize the parking # they gave me so I headed in and drove all over and no official could tell me where to go as my engine temp shot up. Finally, driving through the crowds, I found a vacant area and pulled over as the steam started.
Pesronally, although it was only in the mid 80s and there was a breeze, I was cooking in my own juices. After developing an allergy to the sun many years ago, I have a real low tolerence to the sun and heat.
We walked around for a half hour and I believe I found all the FL cars on the opposite side of the fair grounds but I had to go. Got back to my car and there were people sticking around asking what I wanted for it. Apparently, in my haste to park it to cool down, I parked in the sales corral. Could have sold it right as a guy had $25,000 and was ready to do a deal. "Sorry, but I am never selling her".
Oh well, that was my 2015 Carlisle experience. I'll bet Friday must have been all but perfect weather wise?
Now I have to figure out how to get my radiator repaired in the next 2 days as I am towing my boat 6 hrs up to Alexandria Bay on the Canadian border on Friday. Because it is bascially 2 highways all the way up with no stop & go driving, I might just run with the loose cap and see if I can get it taken care of up there.
Oh well, I was really interested in seeing other FL cars. All I saw were 1000s of Challengers and Chargers of many years.
later,
Karl.

Does anyone know who owns this 55 Desoto Fireflite 4dr ? Car appears to be a low mileage original. Paint scheme may be in the very rare spring special Light Taffy and Copper Rose (paint code 440). Or it could be a custom paint job.

Carlilse was a little too far for me to drive, but I did look in on the Good Guys Custom Show at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus which happened to be going on that same weekend. These are the Forward Look cars I spotted there.

Instead of hijacking the Carlisle thread, it may be a good idea to start your own thread on this topic. Then other folks that want to comment, or were there, could reply.

I always leave my hood up at a car show. So when I did at this show, and after walking around
all day (looking for parts). I returned to my car and I noticed the Air Cleaner was on wrong.
Why would someone remove my Air Cleaner? Did someone want to make sure I had a 4 Barrel
Carb., or what? This is the first time that this has ever happened.... that I know of.
