| I have a chance to buy a D500 engine. Owner says it's a '56 D500/315/4bbl. Says it came out of a running '56 Dodge. Engine number is D500 18516. My research shows it's a '57 D500/325/4bbl. Anyone out there in Mopar land that knows? I've only seen a photo of the engine.......can't tell anything from the photo. Does have the dimpled valve covers. Any info greatly appreciated Thanks Jerry |

Location: bishop, ca | 1956 D500 engines are stamped D500-1xxx ; 57's are KD500-1xxxx
Both years have the 'dimpled' valve covers (altho they were only OEM-needed on the solid lifter 56'ers).
Adjustable pushrods can be retrofitted onto the hydraulic valve-lifter 57's, though.
