Location: New Castle PA | I was rummaging through some of my boxes of "stuff" and found this, which I forgot that I had. I don't even remember where I got it. It's obviously a place to stash a few coins for parking meters and such, but you'll note the layout of "Detroit" on the cover, and a sketch of what appears to be a 1958 DeSoto right above the word "DeSoto". Pretty cool. Has anyone ever seen one of these before?

Now, remember Ed, ... one cannot simply have and use a coin purse/carrier without proper skills.
First of all, the plaid, knee length shorts with black dress shoes and socks are mandatory. And the
knowledge of how to stick one's tongue out the side of their mouth and twist it about as we dig out the
proper change is key to presentation. One should be over 60, or making every effort to appear over
60 as well. Basically, if you look as if you lost your way off an Andy Griffith Show or Perry Mason
episode, you should be in pretty good shape. But don't forget the tongue !

Location: The Mile High City | Really nifty, Ed - but you have to replace those Kennedy halfs with Franklins - and no memorial cents (well, maybe a '59). You will need some silver quarters and dimes too. Suprisingly, you can still find nickels from the '40s and '50s in pocket change. And tuck a '53 $2 bill with Montecello on the back into the bill clip!

The Desoto plants were located in Detroit just about where the DeSoto name is.
Shows the general location of the Chrysler plant and the Plymouth plant, but not the Dodge plant, which should be just to the left of the Plymouth plant.

That's a cool thing for sure. I have an old "American wallet" that actually came from USA and was used by a person in my wife's family who lived and worked in the states for many years. I have only Swedish money from 1960 in it.. |
