One of our members here put up $1000 as a deposit, and the owner located the keys and title afterwards, and raised the price to $4000. He decided that he did not want the car for that price, and requested that his deposit be returned [the floors are completely shot]. The seller at that time refused to return his deposit, and has since lowered the price for the car.
