Is it a single plane manifold? I had this problem too. Single planes just need more flow to begin with.I turned up the idle and everything was fine except I could use a differnt torque converter. If you have a dual plane then maybe a bigger shot would help. Look down the carb with the engine not running and see if it shoots anything in there at all. Also check the vac advance for leak. Simple, I know but sometime I overlook the obvious. Hope this rant helps.
