It can be done. Need to get the hydraulic lifters for the 326 (unique 59-only parts) to do it. You can also go the other way and put a mech cam into the 326 using the 318 solid lifters. I believe the 326 still had adjustible rocker arms, but if not, use the 318 rockers.
