I don't have any kind of seal there, and mine has never leaked! My parts car didn't have a seal there either, because I cut the lid up to make a pre-luber when I rebuilt my motor. If yours leaks I would use a rubber washer or a big O ring. You could also cut a piece of gasket material into a washer shape and make a seal.
