Motor is pretty much stock. Only has new holley carb, new 318 distributer and adapter, and small block damper only real differeces from stock. compression is 165-170 in all cylindes. I'm am quite certain your right about it being a timing or vacuum issue. As i said, problem just recently developed, or at least got to the point of being obvious. timing is set at 6 degrees BTDC. Also, i noticed the carb isn't easily tuned. turing the screws a little doesn't hardly affect the way it runs. anywhere from 1-3 full turns out from seated on the carb screws is no difference. Car has overheated few times in past. i'd bet i botched a gasket.
