after discovering my tank had caved in, I made two trips to the gas station (hitching a ride)to get enuf gas to get it to run, then drove to the station and filled up, but the tank was damaged and was drizzling fuel. I drove home w/o a gas cap. Once home, I had to drop the tank and have it professionally repaired. I drilled a 1/8" hole in the cap, but eventually bought a vented cap at the local auto parts store...could be possible they are no longer generally available I usually can find what I need at Napa..
