well in my experiance with blown head gaskets, and i have seen lots of em. the engine never runs fine. in fact it will miss and you won't be able to keep it from overheating. i think your coolant loss is probably out the overflow tube.do you have a catch can? also don't write off the pcv valve if your running one. i have seen those let some oil pass at rpm. anyway, i don't think it's a head gsaket. good luck. kevin
