How does shimming the backing plates on the rear axle adjust axle shaft end play? That makes no sense to me. Its seems that it would only scoot the backing plate outward or inward, and just decrease or increase the measurement of endplay at the backing plate without getting rid of any of the sideways motion in the axleshafts, which is what I need! what is an acceptable amount of endplay? how do i get rid of the sideways motion? the book is very vague. thanks for any help.
