I put factor air condtioning into my 57 Dodge and into my 55 Chrysler, both from donor cars with factory air. It's a giant job. I don't know of any aftermarket air conditioning units for the old Mopars, so I think that factory air is probably the best way to go. That way, you get the big radiator, fan shroud, fan clutch, compressor, condenser, dryer (which has to be modified to be effective) heater box with evaporator, big blower, and a host of other smaller (and some not so small) items that make the whole thing work as a system.
