Sounds like planetary gear noise. These gears are the heart of a P-Flite (or T-Flite for that matter), and can whine if there is some backlash, which an old transmission most likely has. I do not think this is a *fatal* noise by itself, and will not lead to self-destruction anytime soon. Just make sure you use good ATF and maybe some of the Trans-X addititive.
