Don, i dont know if 61 used the same technology as 59, for 59 the handle comes with a springy metal clip which must be pushed out of the way, then the handle can be pulled. My rudimentary way was to put my knee against the doorpanel and push the panel away from the shaft so that I could see to use a screwdriver to do the job. I would be happy to send you a digital pic of what the clip looks like onthe handle so that you can get an idea of how to attack the problem
