i would say you got wrong oil pump---you need pump made to fit an early A-engine---here is what i think---poly 318 engines were made from 57-66(early A engines)---engines made from 67-now are (LA engines)---but the parts industry commonly refers to these years also as(A-engines)---thus you need an oil pump to fit an (early A-318)---and i would go year specific---stock oil pumps for these engines are easy to find---unless you are going to race this car forget about a hi-po pump---a stock rebuilt or new pump will give what you need---hope i helped---chuck lowe
