On my car the release button is located on the top center of the light switch body. Depress the button to release the switch shaft and pull it out of the headlight switch body. Sometimes it helps to rotate the knob as you pull to hit the right spot. Then the bezel can be unscrewed and the switch lowered out from under the dash to be cleaned. If the dash lights work after you clean the contacts at the dimmer switch but still don't seem as bright as they should be clean the other contact points too. If the one was crusty...
