Unless you want to continue to use 50s oil technology, there is NO reason not to use modern lubricants. They are much better. The detergent will actually clean away the sludge (or at least the soft stuff) across time. You can also use one quart of DextronIII into the oil for more aggressive cleaning. I do reommend your changing the oil and filter a few times early on as the sludge dissolves and get trapped into the filter.
