For 1957 Plymouths, P-30 is the 230 L6, LP-31 is a 277 V8, P-31 is a 301 V8, and FP-31 is the Fury 318 V8. The P-31 V8 serial numbers start at P-31-1001 and end at P-31-492995. The 4-bbl on that engine was likely original, that was the "power pack" option.
