Looking at the Torqueflite cable I have and comparing a '57 and a '61 Plymouth shop manual, it seems that the tranny ends do differ, although I don't know when the change occurred. The '61 cable (like on mine) has a larger diameter threaded end, on to which a disc-like nut fits, which is perforated with adjusting holes for a small lockstud and nut to fit into. This is lacking on the '57, where the cable just push-fits into the tranny.
