I didn't catch that part about no tranny in the car, so sorry about wasting band width with my reply. But my '68 Charger had a partial VIN on the inside frame rail next to the fuel tank. I had to wire brush a lot of crude and rust to find it. I don't know if this matters, but it was a St. Louis built car.
