Adam's right. The e-body rear is the closest dimenionally, although the c-body rear can also be used. The only adaptations needed are a combination u-joint that goes from the older 7260 size on the driveshaft to the larger 7290 yoke on the 489 center section and the brake block/ vent is inboard near the center section requiring a longer or relocated brake hose. Of course the benefit is larger, more reliable and dirt cheap brakes (I replaced everything from the backing plates out for under $200). I got a 3.23 ratio which was the closest to my original 3.31.
