I had a similar issue with a 1956 DeSoto Fireflite I looked at. Was a Georgia car, but originally titiled in Florida. Was titled in Georgia simply on the Bill of Sale. To mkae long story short, MICHIGAN requires that the serial number be matched to make sure no one else is using the original title elsewhere. Would need a surety bond, or to have the MICHIGAN State Police inspect the vehicle and sign off that it is not a stolen car. I could pay for the honor of having a State Police boy fly down and inspect, or the surety bond. Too much hassle. I passed on the vehicle.
