Thanks for the replies so far, guys.The thermostat is new and passed the "stove top test." I have both a digital & "mechanical" thermometer to check its opening temperature. I did not use teflon tape on the sending unit so I could be sure to have a good ground. There is good flow when the thermostat opens and the engine rpms are raised. Pretty puzzling, eh? The reason I doubt it is just running cool is because this was suggested before. When I purposely tried an old, worn out radiator cap from my Chevy truck, that I knew was no good, the radiator boiled over, the coolant was extremely hot, but the gauge still didn't move.
