Bill..Try this. I am assuming the full spring load is now back on the pad/control arms. Jack the side and brace the frame so the control arm and spring are hanging. Carefully wrap a wide piece of webbing (snatch strap?) around the spring so that when you rotate it, the end corner of the spring is following the turn, so as not to bite into the pad. Now pull on the strap, and see if it rotates and pops into the seat. You may have to do this several times to get it to move. It may also help to smaear a little white grease on the pads as well.
