Ran into the same thing on a Fury I had last year, cost me 2,000 to repair. I never did this but a local guy suggested I buy a 1962 TF. I guess they are a direct bolt in and being aluminum case they weigh a lot less. I know a local classic parts yard here had one for $175.00 which is a good temporary fix. 1962 and some 1963 models had the aluminum cable trans with the correct brake housing on the tail shaft.
