I mean no offense by this, but get yourself over to the library or bookstore and get a primer on automotive systems. I'd hate to think what might happen to you at the hands of an unscrupulous mechanic. The wires you refer to are commonly refered to as "brake lines" and are actually mild steel tubing plated to resist corrosion. Stainless steel is available as a replacement material. To answer your questiion, all lines on your car should of 3/16" diameter regardless of location.
