If you want to seperate the torque convertor from the crankshaft there is no other way than to remove those bolts. I've had good luck with long box end wrenches. Heaven help you if round off a head, so take your time, soak them well for a while with penetrating oil and make sure your wrenches are well seated on the heads when you go for it. Good luck.
