The 1964 GTO,the first "image" musclecar. Very stylish and upscale,a perfect example of classic GM marketing. So if you wanted the musclecar style and image, you bought the GTO. If you wanted REAL MUSCLE however, you bought the '64 426 Max Wedge. Most Max Wedges had all the style and image of a 1964 taxicab, the car's style and image were unimportant to the Max Wedge buyers. All of GM's marketing money couldn't buy them the reputation 'on the street' that Mopar had,but they sure sold a lot of cars based on the 'image' of muscle.
