I just marked my 54th birthday on Saturday. My first car was a '50 Plymouth Special Deluxe coupe. My aunt and uncle traded it in on a new '64 Plymouth and I bought the '50 for $125. I put a floor shift in it. You had to hold your leg against it to keep it from popping out of reverse. I added a rear seat speaker, new whitewall tires, seat covers and door panels from J.C. Whitney. I sanded it in the driveway and primered it with spray cans. I bought a can of 1964 Thunderbird cascade green metallic paint and drove it to a body shop where they charged me $25 to spray the car. After I got married, I sold the '50 to my brother-in-law. He blew the engine. I bought it back for $25, went to the salvage yard and they charged me $50 for a good running '50 Plymouth six. And that price was installed. The good old days!
