Actually, pink was and in my opinion still is, a perfectly respectable color for a mid to late 50's car. Although I agree that pink doesn't suit a '59 Plymouth, it looks pretty good on a contemporaneous Desoto, Chrysler or Imperial.
I do agree with your disdain of sloppy hacksaw modifications, but then again, it's their car.
