Brian, I replaced the entire back axle on my 57 Fury with an 8 3/4" axle from a 71 Challenger. It was exactly the same width across the spring perches and bolted right in. This axle has "normal" rear brakes. Don't go with the press fit drums unless you are a masochist. They are a pain. Contact me on my email and I will take some digital pics of the installation and what an 8 3/4" looks like if this will help you. Adam
