The rear shocks in 1957-61 Mopars are a lot longer than later models because the cars were designed with clearance for an independent rear suspension setup (swing axles,inboard drum brakes) that was never offered in production.
The '57-61 shocks are the same length as 1970's Dodge ½-ton truck rear shocks,in fact.
Luckily though,several companies such as Kanter carry rear shocks for our cars!
