I carry a hydraulic 2½ ton floor jack (it has its own carrying case) in the spare tire compartment of my '60 Ply. wagon,and there's still room for the full-size spare and 2 drive-on wheel ramps! Actually,for just a good functional jack for dirt cheap,any working C-body bumper jack should lift your DeSoto,no problem.
For a 'show' jack to look good in the trunk of your car at shows,a '57-59 Mopar jack all cleaned up would be the way to go.
